Starting a thread
To reply in a thread, hover over a message and click the thread icon (or the reply button). Your response will be attached to that message rather than appearing in the main channel.
Why use threads?
- Keep the main channel clean and scannable
- Have focused discussions without interrupting others
- Make it easier to follow specific conversations
- Reduce notification noise for uninvolved team members
Thread notifications
When you participate in a thread, you'll be notified of new replies. You can adjust this in your notification settings if you prefer to only be notified when mentioned.

- Use threads for any discussion that might have multiple back-and-forth replies
- Reply in threads instead of the main channel when responding to a specific message
- Summarize thread outcomes in the main channel for visibility
